William Akoto is an award-winning, highly motivated, passionate, innovative, and tenacious marketing leader. William has over 15 years of combined experience in marketing, strategic communications, brand building, digital marketing, media, community relations, and political management.
William has been developing and implementing successful marketing campaigns for Canadian brands for more than a decade. His main marketing focus is to ensure corporate objectives are met through an integrated marketing communications strategy. He does so while managing company reputation and navigating through any unexpected disruption to business or brand steadily. As a marketing communications leader, he aims to connect purposefully across diverse platforms to captivate target audiences and share compelling stories about the brand while achieving company strategic goals.
In addition to his corporate experience, William has also managed the profile of Canadian politicians and public figures. William has held mid- to senior-level positions in diverse industries such as Banking/Finance, Convenience/Gas Retail, FMCG, Sports Management, Non-Profit, Consulting, Technology, and Real Estate. He brings extensive executive marketing communications leadership experience and a strong track record in creating and managing brands, as the core driver of a company’s growth and innovation.
Outside of work, William serves on several social and humanitarian boards. He enjoys reading, sports, writing for his blog, and spending quality time with family.
William holds an Executive MBA from University of Calgary, Haskayne School of Business. University of Calgary – Bachelor in Communications, Centennial College – major in Advertising. He is also a graduate of York University – Masters Certificate in Marketing Communications Leadership.
